DOLCETTO D’ALBA
DOC 2001
The Piedmont Wine Company
Limited is extremely pleased to have available for its customers
a particularly good example of Dolcetto d’Alba DOC wine.
The
small family run vineyard which produces this quality
Dolcetto have been producing
wines for over three generations on a five hectare vineyard
which is located in the hills of Castiglione Tinella near
Alba.
This DOC wine is produced from vines which are between
30 and 40 years old on a one hectare plot and in order
to maintain the quality of the wine great care is taken
in its production and vinification process. |

The total number of
bottles produced each year is kept deliberately low at around
2500 bottles.
Just one of the good things about this particular
variety of wine is that it can and should be consumed when
it is quite young – between one and four years. Therefore,
our customers can enjoy drinking it immediately or in our
opinion this wine will benefit from a further year in the
bottle, when the softer aspects of the Dolcetto grape will
come through.
We recommend a temperature of between 18 and
20 degrees for drinking this Dolcetto
d’Alba wine.
Construction
: 100% Dolcetto
Taste : Dry
Colour : Ruby Red
Percentage : 12.5%
Although it is not essential, we believe that
this wine will benefit from being decanted.
With each order we will provide an information
guide on how it is best to treat this wine to enable our customers
to fully appreciate this excellent bottle.
Price : £12.25 per bottle Minimum
order of 6 bottles
BARBERA D’ASTI
DOC 1991
The Piedmont Wine Company Limited is delighted
to be able to make available to its customers this extremely
special Barbera d’Asti DOC

This wine is produced not only with passion

this single estate vineyard nestling in the Monferrato hills,
near Nizza Monferrato in the province of Asti. Despite its
age this wine is now only ready to be released.

The vines from which this
wine has been produced were planted in 1930 and 1934,
between 70 and 73 years ago which is very rare. The vineyard
is completely organic, no herbicides, systemic fertilizers
or anything harmful is used in the production and vinification
of this wine. The wine is made in small quantities and
only in good harvest years to maintain the quality so
sought after by many wine lovers. |
The total annual production of the Barbera
d’Asti from this vineyard is around 2400 bottles. It
could be much higher, but the vineyard owner purposefully
prevents over production and consequently maintains the very
high standard of wine production by not causing any additional
stress to the vines and thus a truly original high quality
and extremely pleasing Barbera d’Asti is produced.
Construction
: 80% Barbera, 15% Freisa, 5% Dolcetto
Taste : Dry and very rounded
with an excellent after taste
Colour : A rich garnet with
purple glares
Alcohol Percentage : 13%
Ideally each bottle of wine should be placed
upright for several weeks before drinking to allow it time
to settle and we recommend a serving temperature of around
20 degrees. We further suggest opening at least three to four
hours before drinking with the wine being decanted.
With each order we will provide an information
guide on how it is best to treat this wine to enable our customers
to fully enjoy this excellent bottle.
